I Cannot Dig

Published on 15 September 2023 at 11:13

Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? For my lord taketh away from me the stewardship. I cannot dig. To beg I am ashamed.

Luke 16:3

Do not wear yourself out to get rich. Do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches and they are gone, for they will surely sprout.

Proverbs 23:4-5

Don't weary yourself to gain wealth. There is the first principle God puts before us. The word weary means to become weary with work. It indicates that the person is putting forth great effort and exhausting exertion to try to accomplish something. It should probably be noted here that God is for hard work. He wants us to work hard at the things we do. He wants us to offer excellence and effort to our jobs and in the things we do for Him and for others.

The philosopher Socrates said, “If all our misfortunes were laid in one common heap whence everyone must take an equal portion, most people would be content to take their own and depart.” While being grateful for what you have is important to feeling safe, fulfilled, and happy, being grateful for what you don't have.
